Uprockin

We are dancers, designers, developers, DJs, editors, educators, filmmakers, photographers, producers, promoters, and writers with a keen interest in the culture and history of break dancing and b-boy/girls.

MISSION: To produce a broadcast series about competitive break dancing that powerfully communicates the stunning athletic technique of the dance, the intensity of the contests, and the charismatic personalities of the dancers.

PROJECT: Combining a "Real World" documentary-style narrative with an "And One" visual approach, follow organized dance crews as they journey to contests, prepare for the competition, and battle to win.

PHASE I (FINISHED): Create brief demo reel with choice cuts from various competitions. Combine footage with DJ mix for online display.

PHASE II (FINISHED): Network with b-boy/girl dance crews. Interview dancers and film them at practice and in competition. Create short documentary-style demo.

PHASE III (IN PROGRESS): Create expanded version of documentary for broadcast.

GOALS:

" Examine b-boy vs. breaker distinctions.
" Promote diversity of people and message of positivity within the culture.
